When Can Smokin’ Weed be Good for You?

Can smoking marijuana be healthy? It can if you suffer from certain diseases such as cancer or AIDS.

Marijuana use has been popular as a recreational drug since way back in the sixties up until today. While the recreational use of this drug is pretty much illegal worldwide the perception of it does seem to be changing. Medical uses of marijuana have been found and are quite beneficial to those who really need it.

Millions of pot smokers around the globe have known for decades that smoking weed gives you the “munchies” a craving for food. One of the great uses marijuana is now being used for is to stimulate hunger in AIDS and chemotherapy patients. Patients taking chemo treatments and AIDS sufferers often lose their appetite so they don’t eat enough. They then often times aren’t able to keep their strength up which prevents them from healing properly or fighting their disease.

Studies are being done to determine how effective marijuana is at treating other diseases such as inflammatory bowel disease, migraines and even fibromyalgia. I know for a fact that these last two ailments are often not the easiest to treat. Some migraine sufferers hurt for days at a time before their pain subsides and I personally know two people that suffer with fibromyalgia and very little seems to help…one is my best friend.

If our law makers could get over themselves long enough to make a few decisions to help people instead of padding their wallets something could be done much quicker. 15 states so far allow the use of marijuana for medical purposes. Unfortunately it is still against federal law to grow or have marijuana. This puts our state laws in conflict with our federal laws. This is where we the people have to stand up and voice our opinions. This is a case where the government needs to turn this matter over to the states themselves and go work on bigger problems…such as our economy.

You’re right and it’s the good stuff too. I had stopped smoking when I got afflicted but I got one prescription and I tried it. I would have appreciated much more back in the day when it was puff, puff, pass for fun. Funny how things work out, the weed beats all the various pain medications. I’m told it’s good for glaucoma as well. Great share.

It really should be legalised… there are many concerns like drug driving if it does become legalised… but please – we are in the 21st century.

People abuse so many things, but I’m glad some good can come out of weed.

I agree with AshleyApaty that it should be decriminalised. It certainly is not beneficial in the long term, although used medicinally (and researched in that context) should certainly be OK.
