Why are Music Videos So Vulgar?
I simply do not see the need for women in the music industries wearing two inches of clothing, or none as in some cases, or men sexually aroused and obviously ready to “get busy”.
I am in my early 20’s and I have come to realize that most videos I watch have an excessive amount of nakedness and sexual indication. Don’t get me wrong I do sometimes enjoy the seductiveness some videos and song may offer however, I do believe that there is a line which should not be crossed, the line which distinguishes provocateur stimulation from outright soft porn performances. It is important to note that these performances do not inspire me or anyone I know for that matter to buy or follow any particular artist.
At most I see this as desperation. Record companies and various producers are grasping at straws to regain or perhaps keep a following but it makes me wonder if it means the full and utter degradation of moral integrity.
Do not misunderstand me. I am not a religious zealot nor am I a keeper of moral guidance. I simply do not see the need for women in the music industries wearing two inches of clothing, or none as in some cases, or men sexually aroused and obviously ready to “get busy”.
But who am I to critique a lucrative business which only seems interested in outdoing each other in coolness and sexiness with not much regard for consumers. As the well known saying goes “Sex sells” and it seems the younger the consumers the more sex is thrown in their faces and of course the younger ones are the target market, which leaves me to wonder do these companies and producers have children of their own and if they do, do they even care that through their work many are losing their innocence as a result? Perhaps the financial rewards from such actions out-way the detrimental consequences it would have on the younger generation.
