Why Do the Poor Run From the Police?

The police have become the enemy of the poor.

Why do the poor run from the police? It is assumed that a person who runs must surely be guilty of doing something really bad. Anyone who has ever watched the television show “cops” is aware that running from police is usually done out of “Fear of the police.”

The police in turn make it appear to be a major crime in itself once the person is caught. They  charge them with, “resisting, failure to obey or comply, fleeing, and whatever else the police can creatively make up. They make a mountain out of a mole hill. It is a known fact by the poor that the police are “OUT TO GET THEM”.

Running becomes an instinct that they can not help, because they know only to well that the main purpose of the police is to Lock them up.

The suspect who often runs from the feeling of fear, has only a fear of a warrant he may have with a minor traffic ticket or a simple misdemeanor. Suddenly the police build it up to a “felony” for running. The roll of a police officer is to provide protection to citizens from “real” criminals, and to be “peace keepers.” That roll has escalated into a more sinister one. Police who use to be considered “friends of the people,” are now seen as “enemy of the people.” They instill FEAR in the minds of those they are suppose to be protecting.

Our society has become paranoid with fear over everything. We are constantly being told by our leaders, that we are in danger of criminals. We are in danger of terrorists, we are in danger of enemies who infiltrate our society. We endure all sorts of technical invasions of our privacy by government. Brainwashing us all into fear of outsiders coming in to invade our peace and security

We are told that we must “CURB CRIME, because it is getting out of control. That gives the police a FREE PASS to intimidate and abuse their authority on the poor to make points with their superiors. It blows up their egos, and they become addicted with desire of power over others. They are not admired by those who become their victims by way of their power.  Absolute power does create absolute corruption, and the police are the first step of that process when it comes to the poor.

We must submit our social security numbers to obtain utilities for our homes. The utility companies pass the information on to every credit bureau, and any other establishment that fears a customer may cheat the company of a few dollars. There is no such thing as a right to privacy anymore. It is a LIE!

Great article!! I think that many run because the system involves money, paying fines, court costs, etc. As long as you have lots of money then you have not a thing to worry about or run for.
