Why Shy

Why some people are shy.

I’ve always wondered why some people are real shy. From my personal experiences with people, I’ve come up with a few answers. Sometimes people are shy as an adult because they have had something bad happen to them and they do not like to talk about it much. They might have also been picked on as a kid and beat up as a child. I know shy people who hide they’re feelings because they just want to forget about the past. So if you know someone who is shy, try not to let it bother you. If you want to make them less shy, start taking them to places more often where you interact with the public. If you know they are shy because of something bad happen in their past, than have them write about it so they get it off their chest and maybe they can heal their wounds.

As a shy person, i would like to make a few comments on your work.

Yes some are shy for all the reasons you mentioned, however the one thing i took issue with was that shyness isnt about not wanting to talk about something that happened to them. I have a friend who had something bad happen to her and she doesnt talk about it and is far from shy.

Some people are shy as they lack confidence in themselves and this could be something as simple as they dont think they are interesting.

The crowd thing is a good idea, however for some shy people, crowds bring out anxieties they make them retreat further into themselves.

Writing about something may help to put an incident on paper, but it doesnt necessarily help overcome the emotions and possible fears the incident left on a person… often its the adage time heals all wounds, and sometimes it means dealing with the demons in a controlled environment.

As for me i have dealt with the demons as much as i can, through therapy and numerous medical ways, i write constantly, and still dontt alk much about what happened.. im still very shy, and at times it is a confidence thing, and i dislike crowds.

I guess just like the world needs extroverts, we also need introverts, theres a place for all of us and sometimes quietness is taken as shyness.
