Worm’s Eye View: Life in America – Crisis

An introduction to a series of essays exploring life in America from the average person’s perspective.

Our country is facing a huge economic crisis, as we all know very well. The jobless rate is soaring out of control. People are losing jobs, homes, life savings…and this crisis has only just begun! What happens when those 6 million jobless lose insurance coverage and further encumber to the already overburdened health care system? What happens when those nearly 6 million jobless can’t find another job before their assets run out? What happens to not only Americans, but also the world economies when America crashes? Who is going to pick up the pieces and put the Humpty Dumpty together again? How can this enormous ruin be fixed…or can it be fixed? What reserve does our country have to make us strong again?

The climate crisis has been looming ever larger and larger for many years, with the Scientific community crying out warning after warning on the deaf ears of the masses who don’t want to hear about problems, only how to make their own life better, easier, richer…how to live longer, be wealthier, have it all. Now that planet has taken irreversible damage, now “we” want to listen…now “we” want answers…now “we” want to fix it.  Briefly, We the People have been running so hard after the American Dream; we have turned it into a nightmare. We the People are responsible and accountable for the problems we face today. If our politicians don’t do as they should, then whose fault is it? When we continue on our merry way, seeking only after our own well-being, without attending to the bigger picture, who is to blame? A series of essays entitled “Worms Eye View: A Bottom-Up Look at Life in America,” addressing these questions and more from the “Average Joe” point of view will follow.
