According to police in South Africa, the English-born Roebuck fell to his death from the Southern Sun Hotel in which he stayed in Cape Town. According to local reports, Roebuck got extremely agitated after he was questioned by police from the sexual crimes unit about his alleged sexual assault. Roebuck then called a fellow cricket journalist and friend for help. He said: “Can you come down to my room quickly? I’ve got a problem,” He also asked the fellow cricket journalist to help him find a lawyer. But alas! Roebuck did not wait for the arrival of the lawyer, minutes after making this frantic call he took his life by plunging to death from his hotel window.
