You Do Not Need a Philosophy Degree to Know How to Live
In this article, are my thoughts on people’s skewed perception of life and how it influences the lives we live.
In life, we all think we are the smartest person in the world. No ones else’s opinion matters. Why would we listen to people who are trying to sound smart, when we know their lives do no reflect their supposed intelligence?
No you know why I do not listen to most people. In the last weeks I have had several interesting conversations. One was with taxi driver who grew up in Mexico. His strange opinion was that government should get involved when humans cannot behave. I asked him if government should take over a McDonalds if the employees are giving bad service. He responded “yes”.
My discussion with the other person was even worse. This person introduces himself as a writer. We argued Iraq and Afghanistan. We also argued drug addiction and morality.
I have always had a problem with the Mexican president’s claim that the drug problem in Mexico is the result of drug user in America. This idea implies that because there are buyers there needs to be sellers. I have to this date neither sold nor purchased an illegal narcotic. Therefore the idea that because there are buyers there needs to be sellers is false, otherwise I and everyone else would be selling drugs.
There has to be something else other then the existence of the customer. I suggest it is personal morality. Just because a desire for a commodity exist does not mean I have to fulfill that desire. All the people in Mexico who are involved in the drug business only have them selves to blame. No one is forcing them. It is the allure of money.
Drug users have to atone for their sins also. No one forces people to use drugs. Most drug users I know do it because they think they are superman.
Yes, I did write an article on the psychology of addiction. I tried to educate this writer on the fact that over 70% of hardcore drug users started with marijuana. This so-called writer accused me of miss using facts.
I told him to sign on to the Internet and check his facts. He responded he did not need to because he was a writer. I then asked him if he thought he, with his BA in liberal arts, knew more then a person with a bachelor of science with a major of psychology. He said yes.
