Time has changed so do the social issues. Problems arising among the youth are at the alarming state. Main problems like smoking, gangsterism and illegal racing are affecting the country’s development.

Smoking is a bad habit that is conquered by teenagers especially boys. Nowadays, this problem has spread like a silent killer to everyone including girls. In this era of globalization, youth resort to smoking as an escapism.

The main causes of this problem are depression with their studies as well as with the family. They are stressed by the workload at school and high expectations by parents at home. They do not know how to cope with stress thus resort to the ‘dreamland’ of smoking. These youth are deprived of parental love as parents are too occupied with their jobs. They do not have enough time to spend with their children. Teenagers feel neglected and ignored.

In search of their own identity, youth are easily influenced by their peers. They befriend people who smoke as they want to be ‘in the group’. They think that smoking is a symbol of greatness which adds to the long list of being ‘macho’. They do not realize the deadly effects of smoking namely lung cancer, asthma, heart attack and stroke. With all these effects, they certainly do not have any bright future lying ahead of them.

In order to combat smoking, there are few solutions that should be taken by the society. Firstly, the school counselors should organize programmes to motivate students as well as advise them on the dangers of their fatal smoking habit. Anti smoking campaigns should be held at least twice a year in residential areas. Parents should play a part in helping their children to choose the right friends. This is due to the fact that friends play the important role in moulding one’s characters especially among the teenagers. A group of good friends can guide and lead the youth to a better future. Thus, parents should always keep an eye on who their children’s friends are. Besides that, parents should also show their affection for their children by spending more quality time with them. At this age, teenagers need others to pay attention to them and cater to their needs.

Nowadays, it is a daily occurrence of gangsterism and bullying in many schools. Bullying is an act of oppressing others to show one’s superiority and strength. Usually, this problem happens in the secondary school.  The cause may be due to broken family background and financial issues. Due to this, the crime rate involving youth has increased tremendously. Dissatisfaction among the bully and his victim leads to revenge which can sometimes cause injuries and even death. The youth cannot concentrate on their studies and they began to lose trust and respect from the society as they are labeled as the ‘troublemakers’.

We must prevent the problem of gangsterism from spreading. One of the preventive measures is we should give counseling sessions to these problematic students. We should also inculcate good moral values in the students. They should be taught on how to respects others regardless of the race, physical appearance of socio-economic background. Awareness campaigns should be organized to make youth better individuals. The final way to prevent gangsterism in school is through strict enforcement by the authorities.

The next alarming problem is illegal racing. Without proper channel, racing can be very dangerous and cause fatalities. This often involves teenagers. They are challenged by their friends. Youth’s involvement by in the illegal racing is also influenced by the mass media. Many movies are using daring stunts which involve motorcyclists to attract moviegoers especially teenagers. Parents should monitor their children’s activity especially if it involves the night activities.

Illegal racing definitely is causing headache to other road users. Accident rates have increased and others’ lives are in danger. This problem has also contributed to the embarrassment of the country especially if it involves tourists. Illegal racing can be curbed if there is a consistent and strict enforcement by the authorities.

In conclusion, smoking, gangstreism and illegal racing are the main problems faced by today’s youth. The effects are bad and the government has spent millions to curb this problem. The society has to work hand-in-hand to help the government combat these problems.

Do you actually know this, or are is this just a bunch of stuff that you put together. Seriously.
This is stating the obvious. Oh and teenagers do understand the consequences of smoking, they just think they can “stop” whenever they want. Because they’re “invincible”.
I would be embarrased if I were you.
