Youth Violence

Youth violence is in every neighborhood in America. It is encouraged by young adults in the communities in which the younger violators live their lives. Fantasies are being lived out through video violence. Unfit parents also contribute to the violence being committed by the youth today. The younger crowd also imitates the examples they have around them in their every day life.

    The young adults encourage violence. They even put the idea of violence in the youths’ heads. Young adults will stand around and cheer about the violence that is going on. A fight may break out and the people will shout things to get the fighters more angry at one another. Also, young adults do violent crimes themselves and the youth sees these crimes and want to be like the older crowd they are hanging around with. The youth are only recreating things they have been witness to in the past, trying to look cool in front of their so called friends.

    The younger generation will play violent video games and they will want to act out what they have played. Wanting to act out what they have seen in movies, TV shows, and video games they will commit violent crimes. Thinking they are being the character in the game, movie, or TV show they will shoot, rob, or even kill someone not putting reality into the equation. Not being able to understand the difference between make believe and reality is one reason youth violence is out there in our streets.

    Parents that are absent from the child’s life also plays a part in the youth being violent. Parents have many reasons for not being there in the life of the child, but the fact is still there that the parents are absent a lot of the time. The lack of supervision even when a parent is there for the child is another reason that youth violence is around in today’s world. Also, parents may fight with one another and this example is being passed to the youth. Siblings may fight with one another and the parents let them or tell them to take it outside, but the parent isn’t stopping the behavior. Children learn from parents and siblings and at a very young age act out what they have been exposed to. Young children when playing with dolls will spank the doll if they get spankings. They will make the daddy doll hit the mommy doll if this is what is going on at the home.

Conclusion

    Everything in today’s society contributes either positively or negatively to youth. Youth violence has an impact on every neighborhood in America. The young people imitate what they have been exposed to. Movies, TV shows, and video games help show them that it is a good thing to be violent. Parents and siblings give the examples of how they should act. The older crowd shows the younger crowd that violence is the answer.
