America is a Melting Pot of Languages
Criticism on American’s not branching out to learn other languages.
Japanese, Chinese, Hispanic, and even European’s constantly vacation all over the country of the United States. For so many of these groups, how can one nation be so closed minded in the communication between all others? In fact, how can one nation, desiring to help others across the world, be so resilient into branching out towards other nations? It is preposterous for American citizens to be resistant to communicate with even the closest neighbors.
Walk into your nearest town and look at menu’s and signs. Every single one of them is labeled only in English. The only exceptions are the fast food restaurants, which contains signs in Spanish. Even though our nation is open doors, we want our way in speaking with others.
Let us take into account the people of Europe. There are at least 10 different languages spoken in an area smaller than the size of North America. Europe is known for it’s diversity in language speak ability and vast communications. They struggle to keep up with America, and has made amazing economic strides despite the hindrance of multiple languages.
This in itself is a testimony that America can be much better economically. Schools have many students learning Spanish, but needs more attention. These individuals are the bright future to make America much better than it already is. Fluency in multiple languages can help businesses work better than before. To have many different groups to work in one organization, this can bring multiple cultures together to make businesses more efficient.
The resistance against learning or even speaking another language is where Americans can be found at fault. The nation can become much better than before if they can communicate well with other cultural groups. If American individuals are afraid of what others are saying in other tongues, those people must take the initiative to learn.
For those who know the story of Babel, we can fight against this. If all human kind works together, then nothing is impossible for us. We can accomplish almost everything if we bring out influences together to really make them work.
