Beginning a Conversation

There are many ways to approach language learning one of the best ways is through conversation and this does not mean the person is going to be a perfect speaker nor does it mean that he has to know every expression or phrasal verb that is out there. The best way to get a conversation going is by picking a topic that the student is familiar with and then having them talk about what he knows regarding it. Students should learn to feel comfortable about talking on a variety of subjects but occasionally they are going to prefer some and not others. It is advisable that the chosen topics are also liked by the individual so that he is not just going to be defensive when he gives his opinions on it and that the vocabulary used should match his comprehension level. The key is moderation and eventually the student will feel comfortable expressing his ideas and giving his opinion.
