In wars, people still had to communicate without the enemy knowing. How did they do it?
The world is full of communication. Numbers, words, articles (including this one) are all signs of communication. This article talks about a lot of well known codes.
The Classic Mind Boggler (you should be able to read this)

Easy? This code is one of the easiest to know and the human body is adjust to this language. Research shows that as long as the first and last letters are in place, everyone can read it. Let’s try a different amount of text but without the first and last letters in place:
A Harder Code

Had trouble reading that? If couldn’t, that’s fine! These are just some examples of classic word codes. Another type is to change the spaces:
Th isisan exam pleo fac hang eds pacec ode.
That code wasn’t that hard. Other codes include number codes (e.g. A = 1, B = 2, C = 3 etc.)
