Five Tips to Learning Sign Language Fast
Article on tips to learning sign language fast.
Sign language is by far one of the most beautiful languages in the world. It’s also the only language where non-verbal communication is used to express thoughts. I started learning sign language at the age of 10. It was and still is a big part of my life today.
If you are reading this article it means that you have taken a genuine interest in learning the language. I can tell you from experience that sign language is not a hard language to learn. All you need to is practice and apply what you have learned.
There are several ways you can learn sign language:
1. Purchase a sign language book – I have several sign language books that I refer back to from time to time. You should definitely purchase at least one book. When you purchase the book, start memorizing the signs right away. The faster you start learning the quicker you will learn the language.
2. Attend a sign language class – contact your local community college to find out if they offer a signing class. Most classes are offered at night.
3. Watch videos of signing – the internet is full of videos of signing. You should do a search for signing videos. Youtube is a good source.
4. Befriend a deaf person – deaf people are genuinely nice people. If you know of someone that is deaf you should make every attempt to get to know them. Deaf people will understand that you are new to signing so don’t worry.
5. Volunteer at a deaf services center – look for a local deaf services center in your area. Consult your local yellow pages. These centers are always looking for volunteers.
