Fun Words for All Occaisions
Spice up your emails and conversations with some of these fun little gems.
Every once in a while you may find yourself trying to get your point across to someone and they just just don’t want to pay attention to what you have to say. Maybe they’re not listening, or they don’t think your point of view is valid, or that you’re smart enough to speak on the subject at hand. Maybe you’re just feeling a little persnickety… Regardless, throwing out a few choice words, and using them correctly, can help give you a bit more credibility, or at least stun your reader/listener into paying attention once more as more unusual words will tend to stick out and bring them back in.
Accretion
1. A process in science in which the size of something gradually increases by steady addition of smaller parts.
2. In finance, predictable changes in the price of certain securities.
Blandiloquent
1. Smooth-talking, honey-tongued.
2. Speaking in a flattering or ingratiating manner.
Defenestrate
1. A throwing of a person or thing out of a window
2. A usually swift dismissal or expulsion (as from a political party or office)

Self descriptive word pertaining to long words. Say that one three times fast!
Obstreperous
1. Attended by, or making a loud and tumultuous noise; boisterous.
2. Noisily and stubbornly defiant.
Vortex
A spinning, often turbulent, flow of fluid. Any spiral motion with closed streamlines is vortex flow. The motion of the fluid swirling rapidly around a center is called a vortex. The speed and rate of rotation of the fluid are greatest at the center, and decrease progressively with distance from the center.
* While this is a relatively common word, when used in a business setting it can be very powerful.
So there you have it. A few words to get you rolling. Get the hang of them, watch the results, and you’ll soon find yourself looking up more and more unusual words.
