Learning Words No Success?
by Do you have problems with learning words for school, mostly for languages like French or Spanish? Here are some tips, which you can use to improve your results.
Have to learn 200 words before tomorrow? Haven’t started? That’s not good. Planning is SO important, it helps you learning words in parts. Learning 200 words at once isn’t successful. But if you have no other way, you should do these things:
1. Spread the work. Don’t learn the words after each other. Say ‘after school I’ll do part A, after diner part B and in the evening I repeat the work.’ or something like that. Spreading helps! They all ways say, you can better learn 5x 5 minutes, then 1x 30 minutes.
2. Skip the easy ones. Some languages are very close to the one from yourself, so that makes it easier to learn. ‘Scan’ the text with your eyes, and remove the once you already know. You don’t have to learn words again. But, don’t skip them when your repeating the work. Sometimes you could just forget them.
3. Write the hard ones. Are you forgetting ‘merci’ while learning French (just as an example)? Write it down. Write it 10 times, then continue studying.
If your planning is correct, and you’ve spread the work correctly, you can follow some of these things:
1. Make your own tests. Just use word for it, or search the Internet for tests. A good dutch way of learning is woordjesleren.nl. You can type in a whole word list, and the computer will shake them for you.
2. Create a story. I do this sometimes. I just make a story with the words I’m learning. So, if you have to learn for German Because = Weil, we = wir, go = gehen, then could you make wir gehen nach Berlin, weil ich da vor Lust hat. With more words you can create a story.
why is this important? => You’re learning words, because you have to apply them. That’s the main goal of languages, bringing them into practice. This is a great way of training!
3. Put the paper next to your bed/in your agenda. If you have a test on Friday, you can take the paper till then to school. If you have a boring brake, or you already finished your homework, you could take a look at the words. Repeating is the best way of learning.
