Lesson Five of Spanish Online-via Method of Elearning by Almost Native Spanish Speaker with Degree in Elearning
Dear Friends, those who have followed already four lessons of Spanish via this mehod, we have today 5th lesson.
SO, DEAR FRIENDS, WE ARE TALKING TODAY ABOUT PLURAL, OF NOUNS (AND ARTICLES, SOME VOCABULARY BY THE WAY, GIVNG ALSO SOME FEEDBACK OF THE PREVIOUS LESSONS.
The Plural in Spanish is formed by adding an ”S” at the end of the word, there are also some exceptions to the rule, we’ll see..
Thus by adding an ‘’s” to th end of words, we have plural, such as the ”el libro”(the book) becomes, libros, the ”escuela (the school) becomes ‘escuelas”, the ”casa”(the house0 becomes ”las casas”, the ”la inglesia”, becomes ”las inglesias”, (the curch/the churches). WE have to say at this point, that articles ”el=los”, the ”la=las”, and the ”lo”=”los”, THUS PINTING OUT THE THE PLURAL OF ARTICLE ”el” is ”los”.
ALSO, in regard to the articles ”un/una”, they become ”unos/unas”, meaning-as we’ve already said. ”either” just plural, for Typical Spanish, to be ”more correct”, or ‘’some”.. Thus : una escuela, with plural ”unas escuelas”, means either ‘’schools” in general, or ‘’some schools”, depending on each case, in regartd to use..Also : un libro=a book/one book, becomes ”unos libros”, and we can mean by this either ”books”(generally), or ‘’some books” depending on case each time!
Some exceptions to the rule, are the words ending to ‘z”, which is actually pronounced like the ”th..” of the word ”TH-EATER” of English, and NOT ”z”.. So, we have : el lapiz”=the pencil, and los lapic-es”, los lapices=the pencils, pron. as same of ”c” , it is pron. ”th’..as in sungualr, of the word ”th-eater” of English..THUS we see, that words ending to ”z” i singular, turn ”z” to ”c” in plural..
Also, see, that the word, ‘el cuaderno”=the notebook, Ok in plural is ”los cuadernos”=the notebooks, taking accent on ”e”, and ”d” is not pron. like ”d” for ex. in English the word, ”door.., BUT like ”th..”. In This Cas, of the English article ”the”..in some other cases, for example when ”d” is the first letter of the word, then it is pron. ”d” as in English, we’ll see many such words, in the future, YOU WILL BE ALWAYS GETTING FEEDBACK..
HAPPY STUDYING!!
