Make an Effort
Many of this generation’s technology and new speech is changing the foundation of this country.
These abbreviations (lol, brb and such) are used way to often. Nowadays you see children using it in everyday speech. Btw in place of by the way or omg instead of oh my gosh. Really? It’s starting to get to a point where everyone will be talking in abbreviations and slang and the English language will be sliced up enough that no one would remember the previous.
Websters and other well known publications for dictionaries are beginning to put slang and nonsense words into our language as if the were actual word. Adults are mystified by the terms their children are using. Are these new code words to keep them out?
No, Abbreviations are most of the time thought up out of pure laziness and convenience. Like texting. Children spend more time scrambling their fingers across a keypad than just pressing a button and telling John or Jane that they’ll be late.
But they’re not to blame. At least, not completely. This generation came up with the silliness. Nowadays instead of exercising or playing sports, children can now do that inside the house… On their Wii! I admit, The Wii seems to be a interesting piece of technology but how can you compare learning and playing a musical instrument to Rock Band?
My point is that if you want to have fun, get off you behind and make some; it’ll be worth the effort.

I wrote this Article a while back and have recieved an email recently. This person did not entirely agree with I wrote but had to admit that Children have been growing into a more inactive generation and living an uneducated lifestyle.

I used to be like the average teenager that used abbreviations but after a while it made me start thinking that i looked childish. I was a teenager in high school and i couldn’t even be bothered to write full sentences. So i stopped. Mostly. I still use the odd abbreviation like “lol” or “rofl” so that the conversation doesn’t end in an awkward silence(or an awkward period of no typing) whichever you prefer.
But the wii is a very good technological advancement. It combines fun and fitness into one. I have used wii fit everyday since i bought it and it is so fun. Plus it is getting me into shape.
