There is no need to be laconic when there are many ways to say things. Words are not only for the well-educated and schooled. (Or should I say that words are not only for the “lettered.” You can all reach the highest “grade” of fluency. When one word does not come to your mind quickly there is no reason why a dozen more cannot come to mind in its place. Everyone can do this with practice.
Eric Williams, a former Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago, used to say that the future of the nation is in the school-bags of the children. Here are acrostic memory aids which I have entitled “BACKPACKED” and “SWISS.”

S – Smart, Shrewd
W – Wise
I – Intelligent, Insightful
S – Sage
S – Sagacious
So when you want to describe someone as intelligent you are not limited to one word. You have a wide array of words to choose from. Choose the word that best expresses what you want to say and of course you will have others to choose from. Prov. 25:11 rightly says: “A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver.”
