On Speaking Effectively
Some thoughts on how to be an effective speaker in English.
There is real need for up to date ESL language guides in the future, which will allow teachers to tap into their own resources especially if they have already worked in a number of other job places or have already accumulated their own notions on what to teach and to whom. There are enough books out their giving the teacher the tools to teach and very few which will talk about some of the more pressing issues like how to get through to a student that does not like to follow any particular rule or what things are more easier to remember than others.
The language has also been morphed sufficiently that one should mention the standard and non standard forms and what one hears through musical lyrics or with the person who is a rapper. That is the language has become more diverse and is not just American, Canadian or British in influence.
Since there are few books, which have an open-mindedness to tell the teacher what are some of the more successful approaches in teaching and what then the teacher can relate to the learner especially if there is a learning block, I came up with a scheme, which utilizes the format of topics, as they would appear on a blog site so that both the teacher and student can take advantage of my many years of my coaching experience. I have answered some of the basic questions students have asked about how to speak English effectively and about how they can use certain tools to attain that goal. Many have opted to choose their won path but have still benefited from some of the reasoning that has been put forth and that revolves around how to concentrate, how to improve one’s memory, how to be an effective participant and more. It is all meant to maximize a person’s potential so that if he is not a strong reader let us say, he can still be an effective speaker.
