The Power of Speech

Speech is our primary form of communication as humans. Mastering this communication will open all sorts of new doors for you.

Public speaking my be the single most important trait for one to possess.  It wins you friends, cultivates relationships, and establishes yourself as a leader, in any field.  Yet many people lack this skill.  Fear public speaking is one the greatest phobias people have, according to a recent survey.  Honing your public speaking skills though does not have to be hard.  Simply begin with small steps and work from there, because improving your speaking skills presents a variety of benefits, namely:

You Will Build Your Self Confidence

The greater and more important the audience you successfully speak to, the better and more important you feel about yourself.  Convincing a group of VIP’s that your companies proposal is the way to go gives you tons of alpha points.  You go home feeling accomplished and that you can conquer the world.  This creates more productive aspirations on your part, and you can live life with high self esteem and a winning personality.

You Can Convince People of Things That Really Matter

If you have a topic you are truly passionate about, there is no better way to convince someone of your point of view than through speaking.  Writing is nice and convenient, but people cannot pickup the depth of your case without you articulating it to them.  Your view also becomes more convincing because you can quickly and efficiently lay out your case, give details on why you hold this view, and then efficiently answer any questions your audience might have.  Julius Caesar, Abraham Lincoln, Martin Luther King Jr., and now our current President Barack Obama are considered some of the best speakers of their times.  Mountains were moved because of their influence, and by perfecting your speaking skills, you can do the same.

You Can Be a Leader In Initiating Progress

Stemming from the above paragraph, public speaking is all about getting across a topic to your audience.  Whether the speech is informative, demonstrative or persuasive, a good speech always leaves audiences with something to think about.  Moving forward is always a goal for society, and effectively communicating your ideas will play in important role in advancing as a whole.  Change always occurs in sudden instances, and a good speech will always create a domino effect of motivation, and often innovation.

The power of speech should not be underestimated.  Speech is our foremost mode of communication, and being skilled in this trait has numerous benefits, both for you and your listeners.  The world’s great leaders have generally been excellent speakers, and entire societies have changed after a good speech has been performed.  Keep this in mind the next time you go up to speak in front of people, and maintain a firm grasp on the power your voice can have.
