The Word “And” is Very Important

And connects one topic to another in a sentence. Established writers start sentences with And and get away with it. And starts with the first letter of the alphabet. When counting measures for a music performance, the players have to use the word And to specify the notes in between. Like in a four-four time signature, the quarter note gets the beat, but it’s easier to count the eighth note sometimes so we say, 1 And 2 And 3 And 4 And. If you mess up counting the Ands, you mess up the whole piece. And is a very important word. It lists the last thing in a list so that the sentence can end. Otherwise, the sentence would go on and on and on….
Without And how would you say your favorite ice cream flavor the next time you go to Coldstone’s? “I want Cookies And Cream.” Chip n’ Dip. Fish n’ Chips. Try ordering just the fish. Not so tasty now is it?
And brings us together. Family And Friends. How can you have one without the other? Well, if your name is Christina Aguilera or Miley Cyrus, I guess you have to watch out who your real friends are, which is sad. It saddens me to know that some people just care about a person because they’re famous.
You can’t even have a complete Christmas song without the And: “…and a patridge in a pear tree.”
