14th Amendment Summary

It was the year of 1868 in which on 9th of July the fourteenth amendment of the USA was approved. This amendment overruled the decision of Supreme Court that was taken at the year of 1857. Dred Scott v. Sandford expressed a rule that a black cannot be a citizen of the United States of America in the year of 1857. But this rule no longer existed after the 14th amendment in 1868. Another change came in the Due Process Clause. It stated that state and local government could not deprive a person from of liberty, property or their own life. Numerous laws were changed in the 14th amendment of the constitution of the United States of America. Another major principle was Equal Protection Clause. It stated somewhat like this- No one could be denied “equal protection of the laws of the United States of America”. Both born and naturalized in the United States of America could get their citizenship according to the 14th amendment of the constitution of the USA. There were a total of five sections present in the 14th amendment of the USA. The first section stated about the rule of acquiring citizenships of the United States of America. The second section was about the voting process. It was about how the representatives should be selected. It was stated that they should be appointed according to their respective numbers. Every person in each state should be counted except Indians, who do not pay tax. The citizens eligible for voting had to be at least twenty one years of age. The Section three stated about some rules and regulations of Congress. An important issue was that Congress might remove any disable person or a political party by a vote of two-thirds of each house present. No payment of pensions or others should be questioned until he/she was not engaged in an activity which is illegal according to the law of the United States of America.
