Should a friend or loved one ever become legally detained, you can help them secure their freedom. You can enlist the services of a bail bondsman, who will be able to release the defendant in a number of hours. Beginning the release process is simple. Contact your bondsman with as much of the following information as possible:
•The full legal name of the defendant you are seeking to help
•Their date of birth
•The date of their arrest
•The amount bail has been posted for
•A payment method, typically cash or a major credit card
It is helpful if the bondsman speaks directly to the person responsible for the defendant (the indemnitor) at this time. Otherwise, other arrangements will need to be made.
Once all the information has been collected, the bondsman will begin to complete the bond forms with the indemnitor. As soon as the paperwork is in order, bond can be posted. The longest part of the process, and the part that differs the most between counties, is the length of time to release the defendant from jail.
State and county bail bonds are not only the most common type of bail bond, they also differ slightly between regions. Every county takes a different approach towards inmate release. For this reason, it is best to secure a bondsman who is familiar with the area where the bond is being posted. There are even laws regulating where the bond can be posted, and by whom. It is illegal for a bondsman to post bail outside of the county where they are registered.
Licensed bail bondsmen are available to help you with a Bail by Phone process. Check with your state to find a local bondsman near you.
Since counties have their own procedure for bail release, they likewise require different amounts of time securing the release. No bond agency can change the county’s release process. What they can do, however, is help you through the system and move through the process efficiently.
