Child Porn and the ACLU
A queer situation exists within the United States that is putrefying at best and gives way to fierce indignation: the relationship between the American Civil Liberty Union (ACLU) and child pornography.
These words by John Donne could not be any more accurate than if he were a contemporary writer:
” No man is an island, entire of itself, every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main; if a clod be washed away by the sea, Europe is the less, as well as if a promontory were, as well as if a manor of thy friends or of thine own were; any man’s death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind; and therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls, it tolls for thee.” Bartlett’s Familiar Quotations. Page 236, entry 19.
The ACLU Stand, Summarized
- Criminalize the production of child pornography
- But legalize the sale and distribution of child pornographic material
(Yes, this is duplicity.) - Child pornography is protected by the First Amendment.
(The First Amendment does not contain any wording, forcing anyone to contribute to violent in society, or the right to allow our children to be destroyed.)
Who Has Tried Legalization of Porn?
When studies conducted in Sweden, Great Britain, New Zealand and Australia regarding the effect of lifting the bans and restrictions regarding pornography were done the rates of rape in these countries rose sharply. A similar situation occurred in Denmark; sex crimes including rape increased in number and rate when porn was legalized.
What’s Being Done?
A significant victory was won against the ACLU regarding Internet filters being used in public libraries. In the case: United States vs. American Library Association, the Supreme Court ruled Congress can require public libraries receiving full federal funding to provide Internet filters on computers to protect children.
This was a case in which the organization the Alliance Defense Fund (ADF) assisted. (ACLU vs. America. Page 93).
As recent as May 2008, the Supreme Court upheld the child pornography law. In the case of The United States vs. Williams, Justice Scalia wrote:
“Child pornography harms and debases the most defenseless of our citizens. Both the state and federal governments have sought to repress it for many years, only to find it proliferating through the new medium of he Internet.” (Stop the ACLU: “Supreme Court Uphold Child Pornography Law” – May 19, 2008).
This case reinstated the conviction of Michael Williams of Florida who was caught in a federal undercover operation (2004). Williams was found guilty pandering child pornography. Pandering being defined as promoting or distributing real or purported material in a way that reflects the belief (or is intended) to persuade another that the material was child pornography.
Federal undercover agents arrested Williams after his offer to trade pictures of his young daughter, as well as other forms of child porn on an Internet chat room. He pleaded guilty to the charges which carried a five year jail sentence.
Organizations to Stop Child Pornography
There are many organizations which have launched an all out war against child pornography and the ACLU. Below are a few of the ones I either knew about previously or discovered as a result of my research for this article. I am sure there are many others.
- Alliance Defense Fund (ADF)
- Focus on the Family
- ProtectKids.com
- Enough Is Enough
- Stop the ACLU.com
What kind of a people are we to allow our children to be violated in such a sickening and debase way? Why can’t we protect them? Organizations are good, but it may take a grass root effort on all of our part to bring this social ill to a screeching halt.
It may very well be that until we are capable of looking at this situation the way the Apostle Paul encouraged the believers in his letter to the Hebrews we will never be motivated to stand firm against child pornography and the efforts of the ACLU to legalize it.
(Hebrews 12:3 The Messenger Translation)
“Look on victims of abuse as if what happened to them had happened to you.”

Very, very scary! It would seem that the U.S. is attempting the same thing as the Canadians: to erase our religious heritage and to allow the vilest of behaviour on the grounds of “freedom”.
Personally, I think that battle lines are being drawn in the western world between secularism and Christianity – Christianity is systematically being outlawed in the name of separation of church and state.
