There are very few people who actually copyright photos. In fact people are happy as others are viewing the pictures and don’t even think that someone can steal them. Some are more ideological and choose to broaden copyright free photos, hoping to reform intellectual property practices. I knew of an individual who put all his photos free online. He was one of the regular freedom of information person, who considered intellectual property to be wrong. A graphic design group stole many of the pictures, modified them a little and made them their own as he had not made a copyright for the images. It is true he was all right with people using his photos but he did not like losing credit for them. It made him miserable and even today; he keeps away from the world of art, for this reason.

In a trademark patent, you have to guarantee that no one had made anything like the one you want to patent ever. It will cost you money and time and you may even have to employ a lawyer for it. In comparison, it is much easier to copyright images. This process has been designed to make it simple for individuals to copyright literature, music or images, in big quantities with little effort to make it simple.
