In many states, the correctional officer’s position ranks lower than many other law enforcement positions. But, if we lived, by the reality check rule many, if honest enough to admit it. The job, of an correctional officer ranks higher than being a police officer or sheriff deputy.

Sure, the police department gets the honors more than the correctional department personnel. But, many in the police field, of protecting our communities wouldn’t trade places with an correctional official. Who’s constantly in closeness with the environments that the police deals with in the free world.

Unless appointed to carry a weapon many correctional officers must deal with changing the behaviors, of inmates or prisoners without a weapon, except the communication system assigned to them. Take away the weapons, of many police officers, you’ll find a security enforcer that couldn’t handle being a correctional officer.

One, of the reasons they have been condition to depend on their weapons in cases, of danger. Which is easily assigned to correctional officers because, of their environment. Where you truly don’t want a prisoner coming in contact with their weapons. Don’t get me wrong because both occupations are the most dangerous to try, pursue to keep trouble makers, from creating more havoc.

It just the rules applied to the positions are different. You’re more likely to see correctional officers face punishment for their crimes than police officers. Who visit the wrong side, of justice? You’ll find the news referring to correctional officers as guards. When in true perspectives they are far, from being a mall guard. Or, someone guarding the local business.

Correctional officers, are assigned to units, as officers to watch, supervise all aspects, of problems. A riot could happen quickly in the prison system that has different scenarios than those in a free community. They might not share the best , of headlines in a positive light but they worthy, of respect, from those, who can’t understand the pressure involved in their positions.

Just remember they are correctional officers , and not guards. A word that they have left behind years ago, even if, the news organizations can’t address them properly.
