Cuban Embargo to Lift Cigars and Charm
Since the embargo of the United States imposed on Cuba in 1970, Cuba has still managed to flourish in its own way under dictator rule. When the embargo finally lifts, the Cuban economy will boost but it will be in danger of losing its old world charm.
Anyone who is from Cuba, has family in Cuba or has visited Cuba, knows of the treasures of the island’s many treasures. There is a unique sound with bright sights and the smell of delicious cooking. But what happens if the Cuban culture feasts on the capitalism that will come from an end to the embargo? Certainly there will be an influx of tourist traps and all inclusive vacation hotels.
Cigars will once again be exported to enter stiff competition with stogies from other nations which have been competing against the gold standard of Cuban cigars for over 40 years. There will be all sorts of issues with the vast amount of people who will return to Cuba with their American monies to start up import and export businesses. At first, these will no doubt flourish but much like anything good that bursts, it will only be a matter of time until there are just too many proprietors trying to be successful in a limited market. And during this competition, the charm of old world neighborhoods and mami and papi stores will start to disintegrate.

As a smoker of cigars who still buys the occasional Cuban stogie from the web, I look forward to a free trade and open market where we can sample everything Cuba has to offer. But would the mystique and intrigue of smoking a forbidden cigar take away from the experience?

When they do finally lift the trade embargo you may see an influx but no it will not take a way from the experience. They will still be the amazing cubans that you love. You can get them online still really easily. They are part of the cuban culture. There is nothing that will change that.
