One case I know of personally resulted in FIVE FELONIES being charged against someone to was caught shoplifting possibly $100 worth of items out of a Walmart.<br /> <br /> FIVE felonies for ONE single otherwise-misdemeanor shoplifting incident. More than you could get for drugging and raping an underage cheerleader.<br /> <br /> It seems we're moving in the OPPOSITE direction, back to cutting off the hand of the theif.
