Adopted by the National Assembly, the web laws is officially in force since 1 January 2010. This has created the High Authority for the dissemination of works and protection of the rights on the Internet that provides control music sharing sites and punish users continue to download illegally. The law had been widely criticized, even if a majority of artists and labels have continued despite the anger of thousands of users. Hadopi did not finish cause scandals as new additions will soon be submitted to the Minister of Culture Frédéric Mitterand before eventually proposed to the National Assembly.
As for Marie-Françoise Marais, president of Hadopi, it welcomes in an interview on TF1 news of its balance sheet. Flexible response is a success: it aims at initially notify users by fraudulent mail before sending a mail that may lead to prosecution. “After 18 months, we are still rise. The first recommendations are parties a year ago. In early September, we are about 650,000 first recommendations sent by mail to users and 44,000 seconds recommendations. Finally, some sixty cases are being investigated in the third stage of the proceedings. A key? Fines of up to 1,500 euros and one month maximum stay of Internet subscription.
