I Need a Good Lawyer

If ever you require the services of a lawyer it is important to research the market and find the one most suited to your situation and budget. Follow these small tips and you are off to a good start.

Finding the right and the best Lawyer or Legal Attorney for you can be a tiring and frustrating experience…

Many of us during our lives will require the services of a lawyer for something, whether for obtaining a mortgage, fighting a custody battle, defending a criminal charge or perhaps motoring conviction. In some cases, if you are in the entertainment industry, you may require a specialist lawyer termed an Entertainment Lawyer.

There are many other reasons we may require a legal representative, but have you ever tried to plough through the vast minefield of law firms out there?

It can be extremely time consuming. Many advertise similar representation and most firms cover all aspects of law. But with so many doing the same, how do you gauge which is the best for you?

Well first of all take a step back. Look at the reason why you need a lawyer. It isn’t like you need a new coat. Many women and dare I say men, will boast how they love to shop around for the best deal and the best garment, but when it comes to shopping for a legal representative I doubt half as many would be so eager.

But the mindset should still be the same. Shop around for the best deal that fits you…

Word of mouth is a start. Ask around and see if your friends have ever required the services of a lawyer in your particular need. So, if you are unfortunate enough to see yourself in the middle of a criminal charge, seek out any friends who may have had to use one. Don’t be shy in doing this.

Questions to ask are how competent were they? Was the case outcome favourable to them? What were his or her fees? What was their professionalism like towards the case? Did they cover all aspects and leave no stone unturned when it came to defending them?

The permutations and questions to ask seem almost endless, but questions that need asking they are. After all, this is YOUR money and remember in some cases your freedom.

Of course the requirement for a lawyer isn’t restricted to criminal law. Family Law is huge and when faced with divorce or custody court cases you need to instruct a lawyer who specialises in that field. Do not be afraid to ask about their past case history and what cases they were successful at or not. If they weren’t, be cheeky and ask why not! Though many may be reluctant in case they break the confidentiality law.
