Jury of my Peers?

The jury selection process in the United States is corrupted. The system is designed to justify the actions of the rich and to condemn the reactions of the poor.

Another way, the jury system could be changed for the better is to take the power of selecting jurors away from the lawyers and into the hands of a nonpartisan official.  Lawyers use many methods in choosing a jury that will determine a verdict for their client’s benefit, not a verdict that is just.  Some lawyers even use illegal tactics in the process of jury selection to gain the upper hand in the case, like using illegally gained information about jurors to select the best jurors to help win the trail.  The jury should be selected by a nonpartisan official that has noting to do with the case what so ever.  The person’s identity should be keep secret from the public and the lawyers, so the official will not be corrupted into favoring one side of the case over the other.  If a nonpartisan official is placed in the position of jury selecting, the system will work better then the one in place now in the United States.

In conclusion, the jury selection process needs to change because it is corrupted.  In order to create a better system, there should be a change in the selection process.  Today all jurors are selected from the voter registration list in each state, but the selection process should also include registered drivers and tax payers.  Also, the American jury selection process could be improved by taking the media out of the justice system all together.  The media is one of the main corrupters of the jury selection process and should be banned.  Lastly, taking the power of selection from the lawyers and placing it in the hands of a nonpartisan official could improve the jury selection system.  Through these changes, the American jury selection process would be significantly improved from today’s corrupted system.
