Legal Smoke: Are Marijuana Alternative Head Shops Really Legal?
by All across America these legal bud, legal marijuana head shops are popping up. But the question is are they really legal? Are the substances smoked safe for our children? And how easy is it to get these legal herbal products in the hands of our children? We find out by speaking to the owner of one of the most potent but legal head shops in America.
We also asked John D. how easy it is for children to get there hands on his products and he explained, “ We try our best to sell only to adults 18 and older. For instance, we occasionally receive a cash order in the mail. We send cash orders back to the sender because it is likely an under age person trying to order. But we are very limited in our ability to make sure the person on the other end is who he says he is. We are not looking or trying to conduct business with children or people in rehab”!
Rehab? “Yes, often times a recovering drug user has lost everything. They have lost their children their marriage their homes, jobs etc. And by coming to us they are still trying fill the void left by their addiction. Although our herbal products are not addictive we strongly discourage past drug users to purchase our products. Although our products do create a potent experience, it would in time, not be enough of an experience for a recovering drug addict. They would quickly revert back to illegal and harmful drug use”.
When asked, Do you feel any guilt for selling these types of products to the public? John D. quickly responded, ” not at all. My products are no more unhealthy than a greasy hamburger and fries from one of the leading restaurant chains. I sell to adults who have the legal right to purchase and use my herbal smoke products. The same adults who are warned to use them responsibly. All of my listings clearly state to not drive or operate heavy machinery. I can only trust that as adults they will heed my warning”.
With the information provided we have to be our own judge. Obviously these legal herbal smoke products there is the potential for misuse. Although they are not habit forming they can be dangerous to use while operating a vehicle or heavy machinery. That alone should be a clue that we want to keep these legal herbs out of the lungs of our children. We might even consider talking to our children about the dangers associated with using legal substances.
