Legalizing Marijuana
I may not truly endorse it, but this is about the legalization of pot.
Marijuana is a mixture of dried leaves, stems, seeds and flowers from the hemp plant. Marijuana is a drug that can be inhaled by smoking or eaten orally, whether it’s plain or, mixed in food like brownies or brewed in tea. Users take the drug for the euphoria it produces known as a high, which is caused by an active chemical in the plant, delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol, better know by today’s youth as THC. When used, the THC is absorbed into the bloodstream where it is quickly transmitted to specific sites in the brain called cannabinoid receptors. There are different amounts of the receptors in different parts of the brain, the most are in parts of the brain that influence pleasure, memory, thoughts, concentration, sensory and time perception. Even though these effects are minimal and only dangerous if the substance is abused, marijuana is illegal in many states, including the Sunshine State of Florida even though there are many benefits to using the drug in moderation.
One of the benefits of using marijuana is for health reasons. Pot is used, usually in tablet form, by patients in hospitals with cancer. The tablets help to relieve the side effects of nausea and vomiting that accompany chemotherapy, the treatment for cancer.
Many places have legalized medical marijuana already. Some examples are: Oregon, Maine, Washington, Hawaii, Alaska, Colorado, and Nevada. Pot is also used as a stress reliever by many people because it creates a calm disposition amongst users. The large scale use of marijuana would lead to pacifism amongst the many different people in the world.
Another key factor that pertains to the legalization of marijuana is that it would clean up the law system. Many people would be relieved of their sentence for the use of marijuana, which would free up many jails a large amount. Then, the police would have more time to focus on bigger issues, besides minuscule things like pot drug busts, which would hardly be an issue if it was legal. If marijuana was legal, consumers could deal with there issues relating to purchasing the plant more civilly, instead of violence occurring when the consumer has to take things into his own hands when he is scammed or ripped off by a dealer. Instead, the company selling the drug could be sued or taken care of without physical force. Drug crimes would also go down because the drug would be much cheaper because it would be sold by many different people and corporations. Another plus is that the FDA could regulate the sales and use of marijuana if it was legal.

Not going to be legal for many a year.
To be legal would mean it would be taxed.
It’s waaaay to easy to grow weed in the backyard, basement or balcony. How could the government collect $$ from everyone?

well that money they dont collect should be less than what they spend in time, resources, and money to fight the grow, sale and use now.
the government should make the more logical decision and decriminalize

Doing any drug is plain stupid, marijuana can kill you, it can mess with your entire body, it is way more potenet now, and it can also cause birth deffects. Legalizing it is for all you hick druggies out there. Who do you think you are really affecting? If a kid gets a hold of some pot, he is screwed for life. A kid in a school near where I live had his whole future ruined because of pot. Be an adult and care about the people around you.

“The government also portrays marijuana falsely, as a “gateway drug” that is causing many deaths amongst Americans everywhere. In reality, many of their claims are false; in fact zero people have died from using marijuana compared to the many deaths caused by small things like aspirin, and caffeine”‘
You must have been high when you wrote this article. People don’t die from caffine, you are so stupid. You are a liar, you smoke pot and you think everyone else should too, maybe YOU need to go see a rehab cause you have major issues.
Dumb Article

“Marijuana is one of the least habit forming substances out there in the world today, there’s a much better chance of caffeine addiction.”
How about you go on and quit smoking pot then, lets see how long you would last. Much better chance of having a caffenie addiction? Cause anyone can drink a freaking soda. The government will never legalize it, all of your claims are invaild.

It appears that a few people posting on this blog are completely ignorant of the severe benefits the legalization of Marijuana could have on our economy and society as a whole. Marijuana is habit forming but not addictive like nicotine or cocaine. I smoke pot every day of my life without fail and I have experienced no hindrances to my health until I picked up cigarettes. No one has ever died of recreational Marijuana use but last year 2,000 people died from caffeine and 500 from aspirin. 100,000 from alcohol and 400,000 from tobacco. (United States Government National Institute on Drug Abuse, Bureau of Mortality Statistics) The government spends millions of dollars each year making feeble attempts to uphold this prohibition yet could make millions by selling marijuana cigarettes and taxing them like tobacco. Many people feel that a persons ability to personally cultivate cannabis would eliminate the governments ability to tax the substance but growing costs a lot of money and most independent citizens are not going to go through all that effort when it is readily available in stores. How many people do you know growing tobacco for personal use? Marijuana makes you slightly lethargic while its in effect but no long term effects have been documented. The ignorance of modern American citizens is overwhelming. Never have I seen a nation of people so blindly follow what the government says since the 1940’s. Drug dealers will still try to distribute to teens and children but there target markets will be much more limited, causing profits to drop. No longer would we have to worry about the illegal trafficking of Marijuana and the millions of dollars being handed to organized crime syndicates. Not to mention the fact that Hemp is a valuable renewable resource that can be used to produce clothing, paper, and even diesel fuel. Think for yourself America. If our country only consisted of people like you “A Smart Person” we’d still be a slave owning, British Colony. Our government isn’t always right and the prohibition of Cannabis Sativa is as pointless as that of alcohol.

I used to smoke pot everyday! The only reason i quit is because i am working where they do random drug testing and in this economy i cant afford to loose my job! I dont see anything wrong with it! I agree with MOST everyone up here. Put it this way….MAN MADE ALCOHOL, GOD MADE POT, WHO DO YOU TRUST? Think on that one for a while before you go talking about something you know nothing about. If you have never smoked/eaten pot then you have no idea, dont say you do. I have honestly never seen pot destroy anyone’s life before. I have seen it keep someone from getting an *sswhoopin before! Check out ALL the facts, not just what you want to see before you start judging!
