Living in a Lawsuit Happy Society

Discussing a recent lawsuit that was pointless and a waste of the court and attorney’s time.

This is why the legal system has changed the standards to keep pointless lawsuits from wasting the court and attorney’s time being pursued. It doesn’t really suit the point of some people who feel they need to sue people just to be suing. You didn’t see frivolous lawsuits 30 years ago being filed because lawyers and judges had a good sense of what case(s) were worth their time pursuing and bringing it to justice and wasting the court’s resources in assembling a jury and the time invested into holding a full court proceeding just for something as small as suing a dating service for discrimination when all it’s going to get is a dismissal.

They should reprimand people for pointless lawsuits since it’s a waste of the court and lawyers time to file lawsuits for someone else’s rules and preferences. In 1992, 79 year old Stella Liebeck of Albuquerque, New Mexico had ordered some coffee from a local McDonald’s and she ended up spilling the beverage in her lap, and she later sued McDonald’s for $2.9 million dollars for an injury she did to herself which shouldn’t have been a legal issue anyway. McDonald’s by law has to have hot drinks regulated to a certain temperature to remain hot.

It has now gotten to the point that people are abusing the legal system and there’s no solution in sight to stop this kind of pointless abuse of the very system that stands to protect the innocent and punish the guilty.
