Lumpur Lapindo Victims Compensation Diverted

Sidoarjo district police found indications of the alleged misappropriation of compensation to the victims of Lapindo Mud in three villages in Jabon district, Sidoarjo regency, East Java, who allegedly unscrupulous Sidoarjo Mud Mitigation Agency.

Sidoarjo District Police Chief Adjunct Senior Commissioner M Iqbal, Wednesday (02/03/2011) said the current police officer has conducted the examination to a number of witnesses and found indications of diversion of money damages that victims of Lapindo Mud.
“In connection with this case, we have also been coordinating with the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP) East Java, to help investigate this case,” he said.
He argues, though police have checked a number of people as witnesses, but police still have not determined the suspect in the alleged misappropriation of this money damages.

Until now, police are still investigating this case and examine a number of witnesses ranging from residents, staff BPLS (Sidoarjo Mud Mitigation Agency) and BPN (National Land Agency).
From the examination while the police had found indications of diversion of money damages Lumpur Lapindo victims. ”Indications of BPN staff information obtained from the area where the existing soil with the compensation money does not fit,” he explained.

However, police still have not been able to find out how much money has been diverted, and therefore, the police in coordination with the BPKP to calculate how the money is diverted.
He also denied if the inspection conducted by the police, considered slow by members of the community.
“We were not slow in doing the examination, but must go through the stages that must be passed. Because the alleged corruption case like this already exist procedures that must be passed, “he said.
