Ma Law Schools

Studying for a law degree in the state of Massachusetts can either make or break your career in your law career. Law schools in Massachusetts are among the best in the nation and some in the world. These law schools provide you with both interdisciplinary and joint degrees in law and you can select the one that suits you on the basis of admission criteria, ranking and accreditation academic programs, public or private.

Accreditation of Massachusetts law schools is done by American Bar Association (ABA) while ranking is by U.S News and World Reports, Princeton Review rankings and National Jurist. New England is ABA accredited, a member of the Association of the American Law Schools and a founding member of The Consortium for Innovative Legal Education. According to 2011 US News and Legal Report, it ranks in the fourth tier of law schools in the United States just after Harvard which is in the second position after Yale University (See Reference 2). Another law school in MA that is accredited by ABA is Boston University Law School which is located at the heart of Boston University campus on Commonwealth Avenue in Boston. In 2011 U.S News and World Reports ranked the school at 22nd position in United States and in the same year National Jurist named it one of the top public service law schools in America. Boston College Law School which is located approximately 1.5 miles from the Boston main college campus in Chestnut Hill and situated on a 40-acre in Newton is another ranked law school. In 2010 Princeton Review rankings placed the college in 7th position for best career prospects as a result of its student placement in the top law firms in the country .U.S News and World Reports also ranked Boston College at 20th.

Private & Public Schools

In Massachusetts there are both public and private law schools. Private law schools include: New England school of Law and Suffolk University Law School which is located in downtown Boston. The school offers day and evening programs and since 1953 and 1977, the school has been accredited by the American Bar Association and Association of American Law Schools respectively (See Reference 1). Western New England College School of Law is also private and an American Bar Accredited Law School in Springfield. The school offers programs such as business law, estate planning, criminal law, real estate, public interest law and international and comparative law (See Reference 4). There are also public law schools like: Harvard law school and Boston University Law School; the University of Massachusetts is a public law school located in Dartmouth and should not be confused with Massachusetts School of Law. To get admission at the University of Massachusetts, you must take LSAT and pass in addition to submitting your undergraduate transcripts.
