Marijuana Legalization
by A brief overview of the current issues concerning cannabis laws.
The use of marijuana by people for a recreational high is increasing rapidly and spreading to younger and younger teens, But why does society see this as such a problem? Marijuana is one of the least harmful drugs on the streets! One very important reason that i say this is that it has absolutely no addictive substances in it. The people that are “addicted” to it only like it so much that it becomes a main focus of their lives, unlike cigarettes which are loaded with addictive substances such as nicotine and other harmful things like tar and carbon monoxide.
Now on to the law part of this entry… The deal currently is talk of legalizing marijuana in small quantities and exempting the penalties from any federal charges. The state laws would vary but its my guess that as the federal charges dissipate, so will the state penalties. There is also talk of legalizing small growing operations.
Society is taking a step in the right direction.
