Neighborhood “Death” Watch in Florida
Self-defense? Protecting the community? Outright racism? This story is a sad commentary on society. And the explanation for some is centered around some vague and ambiguous law called "stand your ground". In reality this law is being misused and it is needless to say the least. And why this is not frankly obvious scares me.
So you likely know the story by now. A delusional man who is on neighborhood watch is packing heat like he is Dirty Harry in a community in Florida. He sees a teenager who he claims he has never seen before wandering through his neck of the woods “acting suspicious”. Which frankly is a very subjective thing to distinguish at times to begin with. What exactly is suspicious if someone is just walking along minding their own business?
Nevertheless it should be noted that this young man is a black kid named Trayvon Martin. We now know this young man was carrying a “loaded” bag of skittles and a “dangerous” can of ice tea while talking on his cell phone wearing a hoodie.
Which by the way “the hoodie” apparently has some racial overtone I am unaware of. For I am white and have worn a hoodie throughout my life. And Bill Belechik the white head coach of the New England Patriots is also famous for his hoodie look. Come to think of it he is kind of suspicious looking.
Anyhow it doesn’t take much to conclude from these disgraceful acts, that this Dirty Harry neighbor-watch idiot George Zimmerman, took the fact that Trayvon was a black kid and made it a major factor. However regardless of the shameful and disgusting bigotry, Zimmerman was out of line from the get go. What possible need does a neighborhood watch person need to be packing heat?
“It might be a dangerous neighborhood” you say? SO FREAKING WHAT!
The answer to that is simple. Don’t venture out into the danger. Neighborhood watch is just what it is called. WATCHING the neighborhood. At no point are you asked to risk danger nor should you! End of story.
If you carry a weapon to defend yourself from danger that may come upon you that is one thing but to find or create danger is another. Holy crap even Charlton Heston would have agreed with that.
If you want to be a gung ho gunslinger, join law enforcement you loser wanna-be. And if we need more police in your neighborhood write your local government representatives. NO MATTER WHAT YOU DO NOT and should not be tracking people down with guns. When you do that you are no longer in neighborhood watch you are in pursuit as law enforcement. Neighborhood watch does not make you Deputy Dog!
But this gets much worse. However it started out somewhat normal. At one point this gutless punk Zimmerman eyeballs Martin and decides he is suspicious. Which by definition is not necessarily wrong. Again someone suspicious is left to interpretation.
