Paris Hilton: Pillar of Society or Primadonna?

Money can buy just about anything these days. Especially if you’re a popular and powerful celebrity like Paris Hilton!

I don’t know about the public, but as a citizen, I’m getting pretty darn tired of the wealthy getting away with just about everything. How many times do we have to hear about Paris Hilton getting arrested for one reason or another. We can accept people being human and making mistakes. Just as long as those very same people, learn from those mistakes.  It’s especially insulting when someone who has money and clout, can basically snap their fingers and have a free get out of jail card, while the rest of us have to pay the ultimate price.

How many times have we seen Paris Hilton get out of a jam, just because she has the money and power to do so? This recent arrest over cocaine possession was the ultimate finger to the working class people. When  you attempt to use the excuse that the cocaine isn’t yours, it’s out and out embarrassing.  It’s on the same level as, “The check’s in the mail,” or “My dog ate my homework !”

Law enforcement basically admitted that they gave Paris Hilton special treatment. The excuse was that they wanted to avoid disruptions in the jail. When the likes of someone like Paris Hilton gets arrested, everyone wants a glimpse of her, and normal operations quickly turn into bedlam.  I realize it must be more of a hassle whenever a celebrity breaks the law, nevertheless, that’s no excuse to let someone off with a slap on the wrist. What message does that say to those who break the law and are punished. You can pretty much guarantee that Ms. Hilton will break the law again, and again, and again. When someone knows they can get away with something, they will be a repeat offender.  Finances and power should not be a part of the equation when it comes to the criminal justice system.  We all saw the travesty of justice with the OJ Simpson trial. If you have enough money you can literally buy the best legal team around.  Once again, the little person gets it in the end.

    More like “pill of society”!
Maybe she could donate some of her riches and have a special prison wing built for the rich and famous criminals?
Seriously though, I agree. Ordinary folks get the book thrown at them for the same crimes she gets away with.
    Disgusting!

DITTO, Sharon!!! There are those who have money who are quite philanthropic. She wouldn’t know the meaning of “unselfish, ” if it were plastered on her forehead!!

Great article. :) I have never really understood her purpose in the first place anyway…
And… why should she get preferential treatment?

It was her golden hair that is making her face look better than other photos.
How did she earn money anyway? I guessed that by selling sex tapes. Would it earn so much so she could get away breaking rules?

Unfortunately that’s life and it hardly ever changes. The poor get punished and the rich get more publicity.
