Police Fatally Shoot Bank Robber
Attempted bank robbery ends in death.
At around 3 P.M. on Thursday, Feb. 11, a nineteen-year-old North Carolina man took seven hostages in a bank robbery attempt. After negotiation with police, he released four hostages, two early in the process and two about an hour later. Another stayed motionless outside the bank until rescued by police forces. One hostage apparently stayed hidden from the gunman and gave information to law enforcement officers. As the robber tried to escape he slowly exited the bank with a female hostage at gunpoint. The hostage dropped to her knees and the suspect was fired upon by five officers, killing the man. North Carolina law enforcement officers were quoted saying “This is not how we wanted this to end,” and i’m sure they didn’t want anyone to lose life. The gunman’s name was not released to the press. Luckily, none of the hostages were injured but the community was shaken by the incident. I think this is a strong testament to the protection we enjoy under our law enforcement and it goes to show who the good guys really are.
