Quid Pro Quo

“Quid Pro Quo” is a Latin term that is used when referring to sexual harassment. The statement translates literally to “This for that”. A common sign of sexual harassment in the work place is when a superior will over advantages to subordinates in exchange for sexual favors. The practice is seen as being unacceptable in today’s work place and forbidden by most company polices. Sexual harassment is not always as easily spotted as a “Quid Pro Quo” case. Most of the time sexual harassment can be as simple as provocative staring or indecent sexually-oriented comments. The keys to the prevention of sexual harassment are training, awareness, and reporting of incidents at the lowest possible level.
