Relatives of The Victims of Defective Lexus Will Get Ten Million Dollars
Japanese carmaker Toyota has been paid under a settlement of ten million dollars (more than 190 million CZK) survivors whose family members died last August at the Lexus car accident, whose production is covered by the Toyota Motor Company.
The car had a problem with sudden acceleration that could not stop, and because of which Toyota began later, at that free checking millions of vehicles around the world.
Reuters reported that Toyota and his family agreed to balance before, both sides, but the amount until this week held in secret. But the court that part of the agreement between the automaker and the survivors set aside and ordered that the amount of a settlement were disclosed. It also proved that the deceased’s family will be able to seek damages to the owner of a rental car, where he borrowed the family car.
Car is still accelerating
Lexus EC 350, which was 28th last year August on the motorway at the San Diego crash, drove Mark Saylor, coincidentally policeman. That day was on leave in the car traveled with his wife, daughter and cousin of thirteen. Records of emergency, where one of the passengers calling from a mobile phone, showed the horrific experiences of disaster.
The crew on the hotline also stated that he has a problem with the gas pedal, which does not want to return to its original relaxed position. The investigation revealed that Saylorův car was under the gas pedal mat larger sizes, intended for a different type of vehicle. This is probably the reason why the court allowed that the family sought compensation for dealers.
The investigation also found problems in communication in car rental, where you borrow the car Saylor. The problem with the pedal there had recently complained about a different driver, when the same car back. An employee terminated at the reception that highlighted the problem of the notified service technician, but the investigators when questioned said he received no such message.
Guided million cars
The American media gave the case considerable attention, and the local government began again strongly interested in issues of security, led by Toyota that in the United States convened to explore the more than 6.5 million vehicles.
U.S. National Authority for road safety (NHTSA) is now investigating reports that can be since 2000-89 fatal accidents associated with the sudden acceleration of Toyota vehicles, including luxury Lexus range.

Action by the family survivors filed in March this year, is part of a series of similar actions and complaints to Toyota. They concern mostly the responsibility that the Toyota for the damage, but some of them also accuses the company of involuntary manslaughter.
