Releasing Information to the Press: Is It Necessary or Sometimes Dangerous?
Setting the stage for a press release is wrong. The press should only be allowed to receive information that has been validated and has reputable resources. The information received from a biased police officer regarding information concerning a suspect or case should not be allowed to happen.

Since the public thrives on information from the press and media; information that is truthful and forthright should only be allowed to be shared if it is something that regards safety concerning the public. For example; a child molester moves into an area that has little children. The public should be aware and this is a safety issue regarding children.
Releasing information concerning a case would jeopardize a person’s chances if he or she were innocent in regarding whatever situation was being investigated. Everyone deserves a chance in society. No one should be entitled to belittle other people to serve themselves in the limelight within the community.
