Should We Limit Packaging Laws to Help the Environment?
The bad things about limiting the amount of packaging is that these days lots of information is needed on the package for most products and cannot be fitted if there is a limit on packaging.
Also if there is not enough information about the food and the contents then people can be hurt or die through allergies. If there is no room on the packaging then safety instructions could be removed and that could be dangerous. The bad things are that it can be damaged more easily as there is not enough packaging. Also people who are working in factories there jobs may be at risk because there is less packaging for people to do.
Some good things about laws on packaging are that consumers will not be mislead about the size of the package, example: when chip packets are half filled with air instead of the product but they claim that there is more than there really is. Another good thing is that the environment will benefit from this as there is less plastic and rubbish that will be dumped into the environment. So the animal’s habitats will get less rubbish in them and them and fewer animals will die from things like choking on plastic.
So there are some pros and some cons about laws that we should introduce laws about use of excessive packaging.
