Smoking in Public Areas Are Made Illegal
The law that made smoking puts smokers in an uproar.
I have to laugh because I have been around smokers my entire life and I am just used to it. For the most part it doesn’t bother me until I have to listen to them go on and on about their rights being taken away. When they go on and on about their rights being taken away I have to bring up the fact of us non- smokers rights. What rights do we as non smokers have. I being the only child of 5 who never smoked and had two parents who also smoked. Not am I the only one out of seven of us who didn’t smoke I also had to have open heart surgery as a small child. Leaving it well known that i could not stand the smell of smoke I just kept myself at a distance when everyone was smoking that is the way I grew up. Now that I am in my 30’s with two children of my own and of course a husband who also smoke.
We had been on a bowling league last year which was alot of fun, this year it has started once again, but with a twist the no smoking law has gone into affect. now the smokers must go out side. The funny part is they have know that this law was going to be passed several months ago. yet they still become in an uproar like it is just a brand new thing.
After they had told us this at the league meeting my husband and I got into a long discussion about non smokers and how they have less rights then anyone. such as I payed for my van with no help I pay the insurance and yet I still don’t get a non smoking vehicle I said now where are my rights? The closest thing I get to a non smoking vehicle is that now one is allowed to put ashes or their cigarettes out in the van. That is the worst smell of it all. I guess us non smokers are not to have any rights just because we don’t smoke.
I also brought up the fact and asked my husbabd how he would feel that because he is a smoker if I got lung cancer if he would feel bad. Well of course he said yes, but at the same time I had to remind him that I also made my desicion to take the risk because when him and I got together I had already know he was a smoker.
