Smoking Marijuana; is Getting High with Marijuana Truthfully any Worse Than Drinking Alcohol to the Point of Intoxication? What are the Resulting Harms, and What are the Benefits If Any?

I examine the harms and benefits of both drinking and smoking, then debate whether it is okay for the US or UK government to legalize alcohol but not marijuana. Marijuana is better than drinking since it has no physically addicting side effects and does not cause death, both of which are attributions seen frequently with alcohol.

Recently, in the United Kingdom, Tony Blair and the English parliament have recently moved Marijuana from a class D Drug up to a class B!  Can you believe this foolishness?

Truly, what kind of ignorant and traditional world are we living in?  And what do we actually desire?  How well do they happen to reflect one another?  To me, not very well!

In the U.K., they have upped Marijuana (which has too many medicinal properties and purposes to all name in this article) to a class B drug!  Also, not to mention, that Blair proclaims (while gathering most of his information from Privy Council, cabinet members, and supposed scientists), that the properties of cannibus are lethal, and  can prove to be lethal to a human being!..wowzers..is Blair smoking crack or what?  Marijuana has never been and will never be lethal, no matter what scientists and lawyers you have proving this theory!  It just isn’t true! Maybe if you smoke your own body weight at one sitting (that is the only way someone could possible overdose, unless their marijuana is laced with crack and heroine and speed, etc.), and that is a proven, and well known fact to many.  You cannot OD on marijuana unless you smoke your own body weight in one sitting; this means I would have to smoke about 170 pounds in one sitting to come near death, and for marijuana to actually be lethal to my body and systems.  This is roughly, how do I put this, not only insane but unfreakin’ possible!!!..this amount of pot costs roughly 170,000 dollars given that each pound is going to cost 1,000 underground on the street.  In reality though, this amount of weed, which is needed for me to OD on the dug, would probably cost closer to double this price..that’s right, it would cost around 300k for me just to OD on the good ol’ Mary Jane; therefore, this claim by Blair is absurd!  There is no truth to it.  It is unplausible that one would spend that much money on the drug in the first place, and also for it to be physically possible to smoke such a ridiculous amount 1. by yourself, and 2. in one sitting.

This just goes to show that if the government did what it ought to do (regulate the marijuana industry which is currently underground because it is illegal here in the United States), they would not only turn a much highe revenue, but they would providing a safe, clean commodity for all individuals to share, use, and  enjoy!  Furthermore,  if the government of the U.S. and of the U.K. did what they ought to do by regulating marijuana, the product would be safe and clean, and positvely never ever be lethal to any individual under any circumstance because we all know the medicinal properties of weed, and know that nobody in the record of history here on earth has ever died from marijuana alone..how about alcohol?  How many people have died from drunk driving incidents?  How many have died from pot?  Yet, the government chooses that alcohol is okay.  It is okay to be regulated, bought, sold, shared, and used as long as your 21 (the age that government deems an individual somewhat trustworthy and atleast knowledgable enough to know the responsibilities that are included if one wants to engage in activities which involve alcohol.  Well, my arguement is that we live in a sort of Millean society.  Yet, when it comes to marijuana we abandon all of these beliefs.  What happened to philosophical liberalism (the idea that the country of the United States was founded on-which is- that 1. human beings are rational, therefore 2. they and only they can decide what is best and or right for him or her.  Therefore, if an individual is not causing harm to his neighbor or anyone else, what anyone does in their own home, behind close doors, ought to be their business, and their business alone.

    Look at it this way…

Alcohol is too hard for the average person to make.

Any idiot can grow weed. How can the government tax it like they do alcohol.

It has nothing to do with weed being good or bad, it has to do with taxing it.

All the government would have to do is manufacture it themselves and then tax it; this would create more revenue for the state when individuals are going to grow it as long as its illegal. We all remember speak-easy’s and prohibition don’t we? Furthermore, if the government begins to grow and tax it, the marijuana will be safe to use, rather than getting it off the street where it could easily be laced with pesticides, crack, heroine, etc. Lastly, if the government did manufacture then no individuals would be growing marijuana anymore, atleast for distribution purposes because nobody would buy it. The state could easily offer a lower price to its citizens and easily eradicate marijuana grow operations all over the U.S. and foreign nations who bring marijuana within our borders.

Yes, Frank. I am afraid your argument is quite backwards. Isn’t it? Legalizing and taxing would actually create available avenues for people to pay money to the government for peace and quite to grow their own weed, however they need to pay for the proper licenses, etc. It is win win, for the grower, government, and society (person get’s what they need without government interference, the government creates revenue to build and grow the economy, and also the government will be FIGHTING TERRORISM in a support for locally grown! Shutdown those foreign communist, oppressive, Taliban societies via an approach to legalize cannibis and shutdown contributions to hostile foreign regimes. Doesn’t this make more sense than what we have been doing?

The economist a few months back compare the prohibition to the illegality of marijuana. It also concluded that to tax it and monitor it, it should be safe.

However I also heard that in the US the reasons why marijuana is illegal is because of the hemp distributors and the government not liking them.

Also because back in the olden days marijuana was associated with black people and jazz music, something that a White American government wanted none of.
