Swearing at Police: No Longer an Offence in Uk

Surprising but True.

Police have now been ordered not to detain people who verbally abuse them, as the use of bad language is not good enough reason to arrest someone. So, it seems Police Officers need more of a thick skin because people will start ranting at them any how and unlike earlier times, they just have to take it. The new regulation was introduced – June 2011. The new guidance was drawn up by Police Chiefs at Scotland Yard because the Courts do not accept that it causes officers “harassment or distress.”

My personal thoughts

Policemen, like other professional workers, should be treated with respect while carrying out their jobs. No one should be sworn at. Also, people will take advantage of this law and call Police Officers all nasty names under the sun. It’s a ridiculous regulation. After all these decades, someone introduces that!!

What has our world come to? I doubt if any other Countries would accept people abusing their Police men or Police women.

Would your Country accept it?

Its a very tricky thing for sure. I do agree that people should be respected but at the same time, there are times where the police do escalate it. We have some corrupt and rough cops around these parts.

That’s ridiculous, if you walk into an office and start swearing that’d be a crime, but you can do it to a police officer? I worry about this country sometimes.

The trouble is that swearing has become part of everyday language in this country unfortunately so it is likely that a high percentage of the police are sworn at. I must say I hate to hear swearing myself. An interesting post.

Well, we can just swear at the bank tellers and the ice cream lady too. Can the police swear back? Guess not-so we are encouraging abuse in the society. Respect isn’t something we strive towards anymore.

Interesting how when the judiciary don’t back the police, trouble such as riots begin. Your Judges are obviously losers. Think about it UK???
