The Danger Of Air Rifles

I was walking to the local shop in Otley for some food and fresh air. It was lunchtime and it was a relief to get out after being cooped up in the office all morning.

I was moving briskly along a street with houses on either side. Suddenly I felt something whistle across my face causing a drought. Whatever it was hit somebody’s glass front door smashing it into pieces. I instinctively looked to where the missile had come from and saw two heads duck down beneath a window from a house on another street. I was literally millimeters from being shot in the face. A whisker away from brain damage, blindness or even death.

I warned oncoming pedestrians of what had happened and went to the local police station. In disbelief the police station was closed for lunch. Maybe there wasn’t much crime in Otley?

Many people are not as lucky as I was. There are often reports on the news about people being shot by mindless idiots. Victims having to live with serious disabilities on account of these brainless individuals.

I am aware that there are gun laws in the UK but I don’t think they go far enough.

I believe all guns in every shape or form should be banned from British streets – yes even toy cap guns!

The government should re-evaluate their laws on guns and bring stricter penalties for people who possess these deadly weapons before somebody else becomes another sad statistic.
