The IRS is Illegal?

A talk about the ratification of the 16th Amendment to the United States Constitution.

I have railed against the concept of not only the IRS but income tax in general my entire life.  The idea that 50% of the money I earn goes to the government drives me insane.  Each generation of Americans requires that it work harder and for more hours to cover these taxes.  Think of it this way, the first six months out of the year I am working for the government, my paycheck goes directly to supporting them.  A better question; how many months out of the year will my children have to work just to pay their taxes?  What about my grand children?  When will it stop?

When I heard that the IRS was illegal and that the Sixteenth Amendment had not been ratified my heart skipped a beat.  Could it be true?  Was there a way out?  Could I fight the system, not just for my own family but the future of my country?  Of course not.  It wouldn’t be called the Sixteenth Amendment if it had failed would it?  I wanted it to be true, I wanted it so bad I almost fell for the garbage of the conspiracy nuts.

It took only five minutes of research to get the truth.  I then spent a week further researching, double checking, then triple checking everything.  The Sixteenth Amendment was was proposed on July 12th,  1909 by President William Taft.  It was ratified on February 3rd, 1913.  Now some states never ratified the amendment, they fought against it tooth and nail.  Only 38 of the 48 states actually approved of the amendment.  It only requires a vast majority of the states to approve of an amendment for it to pass into law, in other words 75%.  Guess what, 38 is 79%, which means that the 16th is law.

This is not an opinion of the matter, it is fact.  As much as I would love to believe that the IRS and that income tax altogether is illegal, it is not.  It may be wrong, but until the law is changed, it is still legal.  So what are these people really trying to say when they say that the 16th Amendment was never ratified?   They are telling a half truth, ten states refused to support the amendment, they never ratified it.  That changes nothing though, the point is that the law is on the books, we have to pay our income taxes or pay the consequences.

I am saddened that my country is polluted by greed and corruption, yet there is little that I can do about it.  If you want to struggle against the IRS and income tax do not do it by spreading half truths and lies.  Do it by writing letters to your representatives in the government, by marching and rallying behind your beliefs.  When these conspiracy people spread about this garbage it harms the true cause.

put together very well…I once did a similiar investigation only to find the same sad, ugly truths……The U.S. government is the largest organized crime family on the globe, it also maybe the free-ist nation to live under but never trustworthy….20$ now will be worth 20 cents in our futures generation……a revolution may be the answer
