The United States Should Have a Law That
The United States should have a law that falsely accusing someone of a crime would be a severe punishment. People frequently lie about what they say and they ruin people’s lives, often times the accusers are not punished at all.
Every single day thousands of people are put in jail for something they didn’t do. Cops and DA’s will sometimes do anything to make sure the defendant is found guilty, even lie. If the defendant is found guilty, and later found not guilty the person accusing the defendant should be punished and sent to jail for at least half of what the defendant was away for.
Unfortunately our system believes what children say and wants to believe the child is telling the truth, but that is not always the case. Children will lie under oath to get somebody in trouble, maybe even if their mad at them.
For example, a child could pick up the phone and call the police falsely accusing their parents just because they didn’t get a certain toy they wanted.
Although we can’t really send a child to prison, a child should be required to take special classes to control their anger and understand how lying can ruin somebody’s life. This law should only be used if the defendant is 100% not guilty and the evidence is thoroughly looked threw, the defendant should also have the choice if the accuser should be punished or not.
In Conclusion, out of all the things that ought to be a law, I think we should look at evidence more thoroughly and make a law for false accusations.
